The SmartGeo team lives and works at the world-renowned Colorado School of Mines (CSM) nestled at the foot of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. CSM has roughly 4000 students of which approximately 1000 are graduate students.
ResourcesBesides knowledgeable and innovative faculty, CSM: is the home of 25 research centers and institutes including the Center for Intelligent Geoconstruction, Center for Experimental Study of Subsurface Environmental Processes, the Toilers Ad Hoc Network Research Group, and the Earth Mechanics Institute shares its campus with the USGS Landslides Hazards Group and the National Earthquake Information Center is a stone's throw from our collaborators at the Federal Center, including USGS Water Group, US Bureau of Reclamation and US Federal Highway Administration Federal Lands Division is with 20 miles of 4 other major research universities - University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Colorado-Denver, University of Denver, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center
Perspectives“What kept me here was the positive and challenging working environment. For instance, my Ph.D. advisor, Dr. Bruce D. Honeyman, provides me with enough guidance, but also allows me space to make mistakes for my personal development as a researcher. And since CSM is small, it is really easy to communicate with researchers from other departments, which is especially important in such an interdisciplinary field like Environmental Engineering.” - Ruth Tinnacher (Ph.D. candidate, Environmental Science & Engineering) More Graduate Student Information
